Ibiza is the global stage for electronic music, the ultimate place for new sounds. Balearic Breaks is the first Drum & Bass label to be born in Ibiza, bringing a new soulful, Liquid sound to a worldwide audience. 

 

The founding members came to Ibiza from the UK and were locked down on the white isle throughout 2020, through their shared love of music they created Balearic Breaks. So, who are they? 

 

Darren Jay - co-owner of the 30-year strong AWOL brand, Jungle legend and sound tech / tour manager for Larry Heard 

 

Alex Herbert – former resident at Together, Amnesia and founder of the Bassface Ibiza brand. 

 

“Balearic Breaks is bringing the funky and soulful sounds of our adaptation of Liquid DnB to Ibiza and the world. Our first three double A releases are signed and will be distributed by SRD in London. We have been inundated by incredible music from both new and established artists worldwide. Our philosophy is to champion the producers of today and develop the new producers of the future. The music we release is cross genre and we want it to appeal to both D&B purists and also to house aficionados as well.” 

 

In addition to vinyl and digital releases from established artists, the Balearic Breaks team is supporting and nurturing new talent to develop and grow musically. With 30+ years of industry experience that includes winning MOBO’s, being one of the pioneers of Jungle and Drum & Bass and more recently working as tour manager for Godfather of Deep House, Larry Heard; the Balearics Breaks team is uniquely placed to guide and mentor new artists through all aspects of the music industry to help them further their careers.
